To supervise the housekeeping team, ensuring that all guest rooms and public areas are cleaned and maintained to the highest standard. The supervisor will manage staff schedules, inspect work quality, and report any maintenance issues while maintaining compliance with health and safety regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
Team Supervision:
Supervise, train, and manage housekeeping staff, ensuring they follow cleaning protocols and meet quality standards.
Delegate tasks and ensure the team is working efficiently and on schedule.
Monitor staff performance and provide feedback or coaching as needed.
Cleaning & Maintenance:
Ensure guest rooms and public areas are cleaned and maintained according to company standards.
Perform room inspections to verify that all cleaning tasks are completed to the highest standards.
Report any maintenance issues to the relevant department to ensure quick resolution.
Inventory Management:
Maintain an adequate stock of cleaning supplies and guest amenities.
Order supplies when necessary and monitor usage to prevent overstocking or shortages.
Health and Safety Compliance:
Ensure all cleaning tasks and procedures comply with health and safety regulations.
Educate staff on safe cleaning practices, proper handling of cleaning chemicals, and lifting techniques.
Guest Satisfaction:
Respond to guest requests or complaints promptly and professionally, ensuring that any issues are resolved swiftly.
Ensure rooms are prepared and ready for guests in a timely manner.
Administration:
Maintain accurate records of cleaning schedules, inventories, and staff attendance.
Assist in preparing reports for hotel management, including guest satisfaction and team performance.
Training and Development:
Provide on-the-job training for new staff, helping them understand their duties and responsibilities.
Encourage ongoing development to improve staff skills and efficiency.
Skills and Qualifications:
Previous experience in a housekeeping or cleaning role, preferably in a supervisory capacity.
Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks.
Good communication skills for interacting with staff, guests, and other departments.
Knowledge of cleaning equipment, supplies, and techniques.
Ability to lead and motivate a team effectively.
Knowledge of health and safety regulations related to cleaning and maintenance.
Working Conditions:
Full-time position, typically requiring flexibility in working hours, including weekends and holidays.
The work will involve standing for long periods and may require some heavy lifting (e.g., linen and cleaning equipment).
Housekeeping Supervisors may be required to wear a uniform while on duty.
